Eat Right For Your Blood Type
This week I wanted to try a new diet that would suit the needs of my blood type and how it would affect my body. Created by a physician known as Peter D'Adamo the blood type diet is designed for people to live healthy happier lives by eating food that corresponds to there blood type. Since my blood type is type A, people should be eating fruits, vegetables, tofu, seafood, and turkey while avoiding meat. My dietary allergen was soy and in which I tried to avoid anything to do with it throughout the week.
Throughout the week I was asked to document foods that I ate throughout the week. With that being said, here are some dishes that I had:
Throughout the week I was asked to document foods that I ate throughout the week. With that being said, here are some dishes that I had:
Monday: grilled turkey with green beans and spinach
Tuesday: Turkey sandwich with a spicy dressing and fruits as a snack
Wednesday: Grilled shrimp with couscous and green beans
Thursday: Crab legs with broccoli and carrots
Friday: Braised pineapple soup
Saturday: Muscles cooked in broth with brown rice
Sunday: Braised clams cooked in wine with a Cesar salad
My overall impressions on this diet are a bit mixed. What I disliked most is the fact that while I was getting the necessary vitamins and nutrients that my body needed, I found myself very drained of energy since I wasn't getting enough protein from any meats and therefore that made me very lethargic and drained throughout the day. While I did enjoy the experience, it's something I wouldn't really try again unless I was forced to.
A very simple easy to do blood type A recipe:
Braised muscles with couscous

- 1 cup of bacon/pancetta
-50ml white wine
- 2g oregano
- 200g couscous
-3g parsley
-salt, pepper, lemon juice to taste
- 100ml of hot water
1. On a high heat cook bacon to release fat
2. add tomatoes and cook for 3 minutes to release the juice
3. Once tomatoes are cooked add the muscles turning aggressively to cook evenly, Add oregano and deglaze with white wine, cover with a lid and sit for approximately 10 minutes until they open
3. Pour the couscous into a bowl and add hot water
4. once softened season with salt, pepper and lemon juice
5. finish with chopped parsley
