Pickled Celery
Today for my blog I bring to you a different take into pickling and preserving. For this week I decided to try something different and go with pickled celery
Recipe
- Cut celery into small dices
- Pour 500ml water into a pot
- pour 250 ml white wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 10g of peppercorns
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 5g of mustard seeds
- 5g of mustard seeds
-bring to a boil and place into the jar
Sensory Evaluation
After taking the pickles out for about an hour when I tasted them they were quite good. very sweet, while also countering with the saltiness from the vinegar and a little bit of kick from the peppercorn scent. I would highly recommend this would be eaten with a salad as a side or in it because it has a nice flavour that really lifts the taste of the salad. As for things I would change, I would maybe add a pinch of saffron to make the celery more fragrant or some cloves to have a more intense flavour but overall I really enjoyed it.
